Be. Scared

On a storm-lit night in Minnesota, two high school friends parked by a quiet reservoir to watch lightning split the sky. What started as harmless awe turned into something neither of them could explain.

From somewhere beyond the water came the sound of crying.

At first, it was faint. Distant. Easy to dismiss.

But there was no one else there. As the thunder rolled, the sobbing grew louder… closer… like someone wandering blindly through the dark, searching. And whatever it was, it was moving toward them...

During the fall semester of his second year, a 20-year-old student and his lifelong friends wandered off a marked trail with no plan, just curiosity.

Deep in the woods, they found something they were never meant to see: a hidden shelter tucked between the trees, a fire pit still warm, ash fresh and gray. They took some of the tools scattered nearby, telling themselves it was abandoned.

That was their first mistake.

When they returned the following weekend, the shelter was gone.

As if someone had come back… and realized something was missing.

As dusk settled in, lights began moving through the trees. Searching...

And then… coming straight toward them.

On a remote California ranch, the dogs were the first to sense it, standing rigid at the fence line, staring into empty darkness. By morning, strange tracks circled the property: prints that shifted from four legs… to two.

Then came the voice. Their mother calling from just beyond the yard, while she was inside the house the entire time.

A week later, a goat disappeared. Deep in the forest, where the air fell unnaturally silent, they found it disemboweled, its organs placed in a deliberate circle.

As they fled, something emerged from the trees. Not quite human. Not quite animal. Its movements were wrong, jerking, uneven, and unnatural...

A young man raised on an isolated stretch of rural Kentucky land recounts a series of encounters that still defy explanation.

Something kept appearing at the edge of the woods behind his family’s home, a long, pale figure, not quite human and unlike anything he or his sister had ever seen before. It never fully revealed itself. But it returned again and again, as if drawn to the land, or to them....

High in the Appalachian mountains lived a man no one truly knew. He rarely came down—only to trade furs and gather supplies—silent, distant, and avoided. When weeks passed without seeing him, a small group went to check his cabin. The man was gone. But deep inside the shack, they found something carefully arranged… human skulls.

It’s 2 a.m. when a young man jolts awake in his bed. Still groggy, he sits up, confused about what pulled him from sleep, until he notices a strange figure standing motionless near his wardrobe, half-swallowed by the darkness. He calls out to his roommate.

The figure slowly turns to face him. Its eyes are hollow, empty of anything human. And in that moment, he realizes the truth: it isn’t his roommate at all.

It’s just wearing his face...
