Our world is louder than ever. We are regularly distracted by new seasons to binge, notifications endlessly going off, constant access to email, and so much more. It feels like it is easier than ever before to “gain the whole world, and yet lose your soul.” The question we must ask is how do we stay attentive to the presence of God in our life in a world like that? There is a practice from the life of Jesus that helps us accomplish that goal. It is known as solitude. Some have even said that solitude is the number one practice for apprenticeship to Jesus.
