Episode 9: Gabrielle and Ariana talk with the Hon. Rositta E. Kenigsberg, the president of the Holocaust Documentation & Education Center, about raising a family and her incredible 40+ year career caring for survivors and ensuring their stories live on to educate future generations.

The Hon. Rositta Ehrlich Kenigsberg is the President of the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center in South Florida. In 1981, she founded the first Children of Holocaust Survivors Group of Southeastern Florida From 1983-1986, Mrs. Kenigsberg one of six Second Generation Advisors to nobel laureate, Elie Wiesel. In 1990, she again served with Eli Wiesel as  one of the four Founding Members of the North American Advisory Board of the "March of the Living” program. In 1994, Rosita wrote and spearheaded legislation that led to the passing of State of Florida Statute 1003.42. which mandates Holocaust Education for all Florida students from K-20 and provides teacher training and resources. For over two decades, Ms. Kenigsberg has been a leading advocate nationally and internationally to secure Long-Term Home Health Care for the Aging Holocaust Survivors. In 1998, Senator Bill Nelson, appointed Mrs. Kenigsberg to serve on Florida’s Steering Committee to assist the Florida Department of Insurance to implement the Holocaust Victim’s Insurance Act which she also helped author and pass. In 1996, Ms. Kenigsberg received a Presidential Appointment from then President Bill Clinton to serve as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, (USHMM).  Over the years, she has served and continues to serve on numerous Boards including President of the International Network of Children of Holocaust Su This past January, Ms. Kenigsberg proudly announced a partnership with the USC Shoah Foundation, founded by Steven Spielberg, which “will ensure that the HDEC Oral History Collection will be preserved and available throughout the world in perpetuity, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the Jim Moran Foundation for which all of us at the HDEC are tremendously grateful”. Rositta E. Kenigsberg is married, has two children, six grandchildren, and resides in south Florida.
