Do you ever feel disappointed when an outcome you envisioned doesn’t play out? Or do you find you rationalize and overcompensate for someone’s behaviour or actions? We realize that sometimes the root of our disappointment comes when we set up high expectations and standards for others. How others decide to act and behave is out of our control and sometimes the best way to protect our peace is to simply observe and accept that that is how they choose to show up. Instead of focusing on those (people or things) that we can’t control, we must redirect our focus to ourselves and perhaps look at it as an opportunity to develop a deeper relationship with yourself. We talk about what it has been like to witness a loved one prepare and pack up to start a new life in a new country and the feelings and emotions that come with it. As well as this idea of relationship “purgatory” when you’re on the path to engagement and noticing the little changes that come afterward. P.S. Sometimes when we go through these shifts it can feel lonely and isolating so, we lay it all out in hopes of creating an episode where it’ll land in the hands of those who may need that comfort.

As we’re transitioning into our early 30s we’ve observed how our friendships have evolved and grown alongside us. Suddenly there’s no more convenience and coordinating and planning a meet up requires more effort and time … this is a shared reality for many of us and it’s a transition nobody prepares you for! So on today’s episode we talk about navigating through these shifts in our friendships as well as recognizing the importance of reconnecting with friendships that resonate and lastly, ways we wish to build community or form new connections.
