  • Mostly Jars Of Clay Today S11e13 2cor4:7

We get treasure, but we are JARS OF CLAY.  Both are spiritual "challenges" to get our head around.

Before we get to the treasure,( for who doesn't want a bit of treasure?), you gotta go through the JAR OF CLAY concept.  We are dust, We are dirt.  We are clay.  Pride fights this concept strongly.  But God doesn't.  He made us literally and figuratively out of it.  He is anything but surprised.  It is as if God says, "Yes, I KNOW you are clay, and I chose to have a relationship with you.  I then want you to carry a treasure to the other pieces of dirt around you." God says, "These Jars of Clay are my people. And I'm gonna fill them with a treasure to share."

So today, join me for 7 minutes while a lump of spiritual clay offers a message about treasure, and a message about being a pile of dirt.  bewithme.us  [email protected] google podcasts.

  • Capable, Competent,commissioned S11e12 2cor4:5

What gives Christians the "right" to speak truth into the pointy-end of human conviction; to meet people where the rubber-meets-the-road spiritually? Is it our great abilities and wonderfulness?

Paul asks us to remember that we are servants who start as insufficient to this task.  But then the Lord calls us to the task at this critical hour.  He makes us spiritual servants capable, competent and commissioned to bring a message.  The ministry is by His mercy.

    Our  SUFFICIENCY
is from Him.  Therefore, we don't pull our spiritual-punches and we speak clearly and boldly.  I challenge and call you to keep considering by subscribing at bewithme.us

  • DON’T Be Like Moses S11e11 2cor3:13

We are to NOT BE LIKE MOSES in this way today: When we "see the face of God" we are not supposed to put a veil on it.  We are to be bold; be the glory for others to see.

Like Moses, we are to SEE the glory of God; see His face; experience Him as we expose ourselves to Him in His Word and in His people.

Like Moses, we are to BE CHANGED.  Experiencing the glory of God should make a difference.  We must be MARKED by Being-With-God. There should be some progressive transformation.  Let's be CHANGED BY THE GLORY.

UNLIKE Moses, we should be unveiled.  We should take the glory we've seen and be changed by into our homes, communities, work places and churches.  BE THE GLORY.

Please take your glorious, unveiled face to bewithme.us and subscribe so that you can get progressively more glorious by easily listening to tomorrow's podcast. Apple Podcasts is also a nice place for glory subscriptions.

  • Let’s Have A COVENANT COMPETITION S11e10 2cor3:9

Some people say, "I don't like the God of the Old Testament." What they are really saying is, "I don't like the COVENANT of the Old Testament." And you know what? I AGREE with them and so does Paul.

He calls the Old covenant a stone cold killer; of the ministry of death; of the ministry of  condemnation; temporary; and yet: GLORIOUS.  It does represent the favor of God's attention, His intervention, and Him putting a big sign out saying: "Do NOT come this way!" In that way, He's pointing to the NEW COVENANT...

Which is awesome: It gives LIFE, it is of the Spirit; It is a ministry of RIGHTEOUSNESS(which is not our ownBTW); it is permanent and results in MORE GLORY.

The covenant of the NEW wins hands down.  It is not even a real competition, because the "old" covenant is GONE.  It is more like a competition between NEW covenant and NO covenant. Come back tomorrow and let's find out about the VEILED glory by subscribing at bewithme.us or apple podcasts.

  • Mailmen Of The Message S11e9 2cor3:5

We are "mailmen" of God's letters.  They are now written on peoples' hearts.  God has come down. God now dwells within and helps us live our lives rightly.

Who is sufficient to be such a message deliverer? On one hand, nobody; no pastor, no church member, no church officer, no degree holder or vestment wearer.

But God asks and authorizes us to be involved in the pointy end of the spiritual life of messy people.  Our sufficiency then, is from Him.  He is the main message.  He is doing the writing.  He is doing the heavy lifting.  We are the mailmen.  Ambassador representatives.  Aroma carriers.

Listen 7 minutes and find out what Tom Lehman said about the golf swing that applies to our thoughts today.  Come back tomorrow easily by visiting bewithme.us and subscribing. Or on Apple, Google, Spotify, audible, Pocket Casts, Deezer Podcasts.

  • Jesus Smells Like Molasses Cookies S11e8 2cor2:15

Yesterday, my wife was baking something in the kitchen.  I didn't exactly know what it was but I knew that it smelled GOOD.

Similarly Jesus asks us to "have the aroma" of Him.  As it turns out, Jesus smells an awful lot like MOLASSES COOKIES. Then He asks us to take His amazingly wonderful smell out to the world.  WE get to smell like Molasses Cookies.

We take that aroma right to the heart of human decision and God's election; right to the critical moment of the acceptance or rejection of God.  We bring aroma to the most important moment in peoples' lives and eternities.

The call is to take a bite of the cookie.  Taste and see.  Receive Him.  Trust in the cookie. Follow the aroma all the way to the real cookie and take a bite of belief.  Then subscribe on Apple, google, Spotify podcasts so you can get more tasty stuff tomorrow as you make this a part of your day.

  • Turn To Forgive S11e7 2cor2:7

This topic has to be in the top three of difficulty for the Christian walk. We best do it right, because it can wreck spiritual havoc without focused attention.

Let's use the "breadcrumbs of our emotion" to find those whom we haven't forgiven. These are sinners who occupy too much of the real estate of our souls. Yes, they really did do something wrong. The call today is to forgive; to get off our piece of supposed-righteousness and TURN TO FORGIVE.

It is letting God have the final word.  It is giving up our right for vengeance and turning him over to the justice of God. It is done with an assurance in the character of God and an eye to what God did for me.  Only then does any of this make sense.  Join me for 7 hard minutes today.  Subscribe for an easier 7 minutes most days at bewithme.us or [email protected].

  • The Road To JOY! S11e6 2cor1:24

7 minutes on the Road To Joy.  What could be better? What is the ROAD TO JOY paved with? For the Corinthians, it is paved with godly grief and repentance.

But it doesn't sound like being a Pastor is any picnic either.  Paul describes himself as afflicted, anguished of heart, and with many tears.

Why would the people and the pastor put themselves on such a painful path?  Why does anyone even go to church if it is a pain for the pastor and the people?

BECAUSE IT LEADS TO JOY.  Christianity is real. You can REALLY have a relationship with God and walk with Him.  It is no picnic when the frail sinner meets her God, but it is worth all the grief, all the tears, all the anguish for all parties concerned because there is JOY at the end of the road. Join me for 7 minutes in the tears for the joy. bewithme.us

  • Christian Decision Making S11e4 2cor1:20

Paul was a real person with limitations of time/space/money and distance.  He, like us, had to make daily decisions about what to do, where to go, and who to be with.  Here, he "changes his mind" as he assesses and rethinks previous plans.

There is stuff to learn and remember from seeing this process in Paul:

    • He was ready and really did often speak HARD WORDS.  Paul had guts.
    • He changed his mind amidst changing circumstances.  Just like you do.
    • He had a heart for the people of God and their growth. Hopefully just like you do.
    • He kept the main thing the main thing.  In fact, he reminded the Corinthians that all the promises of God, the whole Old Testament and more, find their answer in Jesus. Hopefully you believe the same
    • His first love was Jesus.  Hopefully just like you.
