Peter: Welcome to our program, Louise. It’s a pleasure to have you here.
Louise: I’m glad to be here too, Peter.
Peter: When did you start skydiving, Louise?
Louise: I started at the age of 23. That was ten years ago.
Peter: Why do you like skydiving?
Louise: Well, I guess many people would like to try skydiving. I had a chance to try it during parachuting training in the Air Force and I liked it. A lot of people think it's exciting, but it's more than that, it takes time and effort. Every time I do a jump, I’m thinking about improving every day. If I do a great jump, I feel capable and fortunate as a person.
Peter: What are the possible dangers of skydiving?
Louise: The landing is crucial. You could land in risky places. We always say that the wind is our best friend and our worst adversary. It can help us land, or it can make landing fatal.
Peter: Do you think skydiving is something that you will do for the rest of your life?
Louise: Sure. I think that most skydivers would agree. I think it stays with you for life forever. It's a hard thing to describe, you feel it. When people ask about how skydiving is all I can say is, "You can't know until you experience it."
Peter: Do you think that parachuting is an extreme sport?
Louise: Definitely, I don't think parachuting is an extreme sport because I do it every day. But for someone who works at an office, it probably is. My parents obviously think that it is dangerous but they're proud of me because I'm on the Army parachute team. But my mom doesn't like it; she has been to all of my shows but she never watches me jump.
