Cosmic x-rays and daylight filled with little people… we ride on this earth holding on to what we can…the rattle of broken drums in old minivans still makes noise, even if they don’t bang like they used to….
This mix is my newest blend of flavors, inspired by the new found sunshine in San Francisco. September is my favorite month, and in this place, summer has finally arrived for a week or two. These songs have been with me in my headphones on the 45 through China Town and through the Stockton tunnel… keeping me sane while waiting to cross Market and into the promised land of SOMA. The beats will match when they can, while pitches wrestle with one another resisting being ‘mixed’ with strange encounters.

The Third of the Storms (Ft. Sam Sparrow)—Mike Simonetti
Space. Space music. More space between podcasts. Ambient space, furious space, pleasure space…. science fiction space. Killer tunes from upcoming Car Crash Set releases. Ill Cosby heads this label out of Seattle, and CCS has been rocking the jams for sure with a heavy dose of dust science electro. Without really trying, this podcast slowly became a Car Crash Set feature. Also included is the full 16 minutes of the Violet Sequence from Hatchback..a local new discovery. 16 minutes is quite a bit of time to devote to one track in a 60 minute podcast, but in my opinion, this tune is worth every minute.

Ready For This–214 (CCS)
A continuous mix of new drum and bass…with some classics thrown in for good measure. Mixed and sequenced in Ableton Live.

Yesterday was the first day of winter, and here in San Francisco, only now is it starting to feel like the holidays. The rest of the world is under snowy skies, but we have escaped most of it for better or worse…
This week I found a few gems a Amoeba including an older Japanese release of The Gentle People and a producer/band I had never heard of called Teebs. Big thanks to Cas@Amoeba–dropping the knowledge for a little while longer. I had the chance to do a little shopping spree at Beatport as well last week, and I kind went a little Donnacha Costello/Petar Dundov crazy. Restraint isn’t really a word I use that often. I apologize in advance for the more than casual dotting of those eyes.
Happy Holidays and Safe Travels to all my friends-in particular, those in the EU–it’s very cold and snowy; I hope you all arrive safely.

Lots and lots of great music coming out right now. I’ve been drawn “dancefloor” types of tunes lately…they just make me feel good. It’s getting gray outside, and those creepy “Morr Music” tendencies start to come out–and I don’t want that yet…… So with this latest effort, I’m hoping to bring some sense of elevation…Autumn air is for smiling.
Distant Shores (Original Mix)–Petar Dundov

This podcast features some great tracks from Breakage, Boxcutter and some revitalized older favorites…including a lost DOP tune….lost to me, that is. A couple of cuts from the Car Crash Set label, including a track from the forthcoming Marshall Watson ep, States of Matter.

Run ’em Out (Feat. Roots Manuva)–Breakage
I am graced with the presence of none other than Steve Rhodes this week. A successful run at Amoeba and a few staggered releases from Underworld have dominated the listening queues. Ambient works from Rick Smith, ancient works from Darren Price, As One and a remix of ALAF….

This week, new finds from ASC, Diskjokke, James Blake and a back catalogue gem from Radioactive Man called Sight & Sound. Lead off track is an early As One production on the ambient vibe. As usual, no beat-matching, but an attempt at a fluid mix with additional productions and FX.

In The Arms of You–As One
A vacation in the Allegheny Forest left me inspired for this week. Found Submersible Machines and fell in love. A little less D&B than the past few podcasts, for better for worse. I hope you dig the vibe.

The Dinner that Never Happened–Diskjokke
Summer has finally arrived to San Francisco. A couple of well-timed trips to Amoeba have yielded some excellent results–some of which I will share this week for Beat Repeat 37. New discoveries this week–Oriol, Night and Day. Fantastic album…nicely chilled, hinting at several genres, but never really settling into one particularly. Perfect sunny day tunes. Lots more Drum and Bass this week as well.
