Childhood Trauma severely impacts the way a child views the world around them as well as their inner world. Not only does it affect the child's view, it also affects their mind. Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) is a form of Childhood Trauma that stems from a lack of emotional intimacy with parents/guardians. Conditional love is a key component of CEN.
Conditional love is essentially when a child has to meet certain expectations or criteria to be loved and nurtured. When the child does not meet their parent's/ guardian's expectations they would be met with violence, verbal abuse, stonewalling, disgust, etc.
These reactions cause children to feel isolated, deprived, and depressed.
Middle School Age and Teen Age development stages are very formative years for predicating risky behaviors and adverse experiences when children have experienced and are still experiencing trauma.
These risky behaviors and adverse experiences can be but are not limited to drinking, risky sex, criminal activity, mental health disorders, and intimacy disorders.
Love addiction is a symptom of Childhood Emotional Neglect that falls under intimacy disorders. Today, I will be sharing more about how Childhood Emotional Neglect and Love Addiction have impacted my life and some of the roots of those traumas as well as the effects they left behind.
Come sit with me, talk with me, learn with me, and heal with me.
