Paragraph 1 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church says that God created us so we could share in His own blessed life. About 1700 paragraphs later, the Catechism gets around to defining that state of blessing, commenting on Jesus' words at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, for those who are counting).
I noticed looking at them a couple of weeks ago that I like everything about them...except the parts where I have to make a choice. I like blessing, I like kingdoms, I like earth, I like comfort, I like being satisfied...but the path to get there, not so much. So I talk a bit about how I've been trying to approach them.
If Crystal were here for it, I'd probably be forced to talk about more real-life applications. But I think with the world being in the state that it's in right now, applications may just occur to our listeners spontaneously.
The parenthetical arrangement around the 's' in the title was meant to convey that the podcast was going to talk about blessing broadly, and the beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount specifically.
And feel free to subscribe to this podcast as well as share it with others. Our goal is to produce faithful, formative, and conversation-starting content for Catholic disciples of Jesus who are wrestling to be missionary-minded in their normal, everyday lives-- so if that applies to you or a friend of yours, we're hoping to serve you as best as we're able!
