Beatnik Turtle's Song of the Day

Don't leave it this way - that's just not right.

The concept for this song came when Matt Scholtka came up with the lyric "I'm not your type I'm not inflatable." He also had the "no night stand" idea as well. From there, Jason and Carrie Bruno (who's singing) blew it up into this would-be dance club hit.

Yet another of those songs that has it's genesis in something said rather off-handedly only to be followed by the phrase, "Hey, that would make a great song!" After picking up Tom Roper and Tom Beeyachski to head to the studio to record, Jason asked Tom B. if his wife Kim was meeting up with them later. Tom replied, "No, Kim bailed." And later that day the three of them wrote this song.

Originally written and recorded for a music class assignment in 1989, Tom revived this song and reproduced this version for The Song Of The Day. The addition of Randy's saxophone and Tom Susala's fretless bass made this a serious improvement over the original.

Here's a nice motivational song for a Tuesday - a return to work after a long weekend for those of us in the U.S.

Sometimes wallowing in remorse is fun, but hunger can get in the way.

This song appeared on our 2004 album, The Cheapass Album, an album filled with songs about or inspired by the off-beat, quirky board and card games of Cheapass Games, this one having been inspired by a game coincidentally called Kill Doctor Lucky.

Here's another track recently finished from our 2009 RPM Challenge effort to create an album in a single month. The album, to be released later in the year, is called "When I Was Your Age" and features songs that take a look back at when we were kids.

This song is about a kid whose day turns out okay as long as everything happens according to plan.

This song was inspired by two fortune cookies. One said, "You have an active mind and a keen imagination." Another said, "All your plans will succeed."
