In Romans 8:1–11, we hear that the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now gives life to those who belong to Him. Because of Christ, death does not have the final word. Even in loss, even in uncertainty, hope remains.

As Lent draws us closer to Holy Week, this sermon invites you to bring your grief, questions, and fears honestly before God trusting the Savior who stands with us at the tomb and speaks life where death once ruled.

In this encounter, a man receives more than restored eyesight he comes to faith in the One who healed him. At the same time, those confident in their knowledge and position struggle to see what is right in front of them. The story reveals a deeper truth: the greatest blindness is not physical, but spiritual.

In Ephesians 5:8–14, we hear the call to walk as children of light. Lent exposes the ways pride and self-reliance can cloud our vision, while the cross reveals both our need and God’s mercy. True sight is not earned through intellect, status, or effort. It is given as a gift through faith in Christ.

Jesus does more than improve our vision He brings us from darkness into His light. He opens our eyes to forgiveness, restores what sin has dimmed, and leads us into life shaped by His grace.

Join Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in SeaTac, WA, for the Third Sunday in Lent as we continue our Lenten series, Life to the World. This week’s message, “Living Water for Those Who Thirst,” brings us to the well in John 4:  5–26, where Jesus meets a woman carrying shame, broken relationships, and deep spiritual thirst.

While others avoided her, Jesus does not. Instead, He speaks with grace and promises living water life that truly satisfies and restores. In Romans 5:  1–8, we hear the foundation of that promise while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The cross stands behind the gift Jesus offers, mercy that flows from His sacrifice and forgiveness.

Lent invites honesty. It is not about pretending we are strong, but about coming with our thirst our need, our searching, and our brokenness and hearing again that Christ meets us with mercy. He does not turn away. He draws near and gives life that endures.

Continue the Lenten journey with Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in SeaTac, WA, as we reflect on the life God gives through His Son. In this message from our series Life to the World, “Born From Above,” we listen in on one of Scripture’s most profound conversations.

In John 3: 1–17, Nicodemus comes to Jesus at night—carrying questions, assumptions, and uncertainty. Jesus gently reveals that new life is not something we achieve, earn, or fully comprehend. It is a gift given from above.

In Romans 4, we hear that righteousness comes through faith, not works. Abraham was counted righteous because he trusted the promise. So too, Lent directs our hearts away from self-reliance and toward God’s mercy in Christ.

“For God so loved the world…” These words steady us. God sends His Son not to condemn, but to save. At the cross, we see clearly that being born from above is God’s work from beginning to end—grace that creates faith, forgives sin, and gives life.

Lent begins with promise.

On this First Sunday in Lent at Beautiful Savior, we begin our new series, Life to the World, by following Jesus into the wilderness. In Gospel of Matthew 4: 1–11, Christ faces temptation not to prove Himself, but to stand in our place. Where humanity has listened to lies and grasped for control, Jesus remains faithful. He trusts His Father fully and answers every temptation with the living Word of God.

In Epistle to the Romans 5: 12–19, we hear the great promise: just as sin and death came through one man, life and righteousness now come through Christ. Our hope does not rest on our strength in the wilderness, but on His obedience for us.

This message proclaims comfort for weary hearts and courage for daily battles. As we walk with Jesus toward the cross, we are reminded that His faithfulness secures our forgiveness, restores what was broken, and brings life to the world.

On the holy mountain, the veil is lifted and the glory of Christ shines before His disciples. In Exodus 24, the Lord’s holiness descends in cloud and fire. In Matthew 17, Peter, James, and John behold Jesus radiant with divine glory and they hear the voice of the Father: “This is My beloved Son; listen to Him.”

The Transfiguration reveals who Jesus truly is: not merely a teacher or prophet, but the eternal Son who fulfills the Law and the Prophets. Yet the mountaintop is not the destination. The vision of glory prepares us for the road that leads to the cross. The same Savior who shines with heavenly light will soon walk into suffering for the salvation of the world.

In this sermon for Transfiguration Sunday, we are reminded that glory and suffering meet in Christ alone. When the path ahead feels uncertain, when the valley seems long and shadowed, we are called to listen to Him. His Word anchors our faith. His cross secures our forgiveness. His resurrection promises life beyond every darkness.

Come and be strengthened by the One whose light no shadow can overcome.

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on Sunday, February 8, as we gather around God’s Word and welcome guest preacher Rev. Jim Freitag.

In today’s readings, the Lord calls His people to a faith that is lived, not merely spoken. Through Isaiah 58, God exposes empty religion and redirects His people toward lives shaped by mercy, justice, and care for the neighbor. In 1 Corinthians 2, we are brought to the very center of our faith Christ crucified, the wisdom and power of God for salvation. And in Matthew 5, Jesus declares His followers to be salt and light, sent into the world to reflect His grace.

This is not a call to earn God’s favor, but a joyful reminder that because Christ has given Himself fully for us, our lives are transformed. Rooted in His grace, we are freed to serve, love, and shine for the sake of others.

In Christ, blessing meets us not at our strongest, but at our emptiest—where grace finds us weary, overlooked, and in need. Here, the light of heaven shines, and lives are reoriented around mercy, hope, and trust in Jesus.
