As we approach Christmas, we're reminded of the greatest gift ever given - Jesus Christ. In Isaiah 9:6, we encounter a profound prophecy about this gift, written 700 years before Jesus' birth. The verse describes a child born to us, a son given, who will be called 'Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.' Today, we focus on 'Everlasting Father.' This title may seem confusing - how can Jesus, the Son, also be the Father? The key lies in understanding 'everlasting' as eternal, outside the bounds of time, and 'Father' in terms of relationship rather than role. Jesus offers us a father-like relationship that's eternal, providing the care, protection, and love we deeply need. This message challenges us to approach God with childlike faith, recognizing our vulnerability and need for His care. As we celebrate Christmas, let's reflect on our relationship with our Everlasting Father and how we can deepen our trust in Him.
