This evening we discuss Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Unification Day) which we celebrate this Sunday, May 29, 2022. We trace the significance of Jerusalem from Abraham, through Jacob, and King David, to Radak, and Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook. We describe the changes in Jewish Law that occurred as a result of May, 1967. And we explain the celebration of normal life in Jerusalem today. Jerusalem is our collective soul, and where we meet God.

Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
