  • When to Double Down 2-10-23
In this episode Scott Becker discusses how the most fun spot in business, in sports, in coaching, or mentoring others is when prodding through things and then starting to see pathways to clearer success. See great talent and back up the trucks to support that talent. A lot of shout outs to be made here. When you find exceptional people, finding ways to support the heck out of them and doubling down on them. The same in business and other activities.

  • When to Hang it Up 2-10-23
In this episode Scott Becker discusses the importance of knowing when it is time to hang it up. This podcast is instigated by a horrendous sports beating and metaphorically applies to business too. Whether Tom Brady, Bob Iger, Howard Schultz, or so many others, one of the great questions is when to step back from a specific role or job. These people play this out on a national or world stage. All of us play it out in different roles and situations.

In this episode, Scott Becker discusses how valuations are a mix of two key things. Earnings and multiples. Right now, earnings are coming in a little lower as companies still are dealing with head counts and overall inflationary costs. Further multiples tend to overall move down as interest rates go up. A stronger market rebound will likely occur as earnings stabilize and as multiples stop falling (i.e. as rates stop going up).
