An estimated 5.3 million Americans suffer from a social phobia, with 74% suffering from speech anxiety.
My guest today, Jackie Miao, was deathly afraid of public speaking just a few years ago! Her heart would race and she would feel dizzy every time she had to stand on stage to say a few words. Now she feels comfortable speaking to a room of three hundred people and can conduct trainings with ease.
How did she do it?
She joined a supportive, international community called Toastmasters.
Because of Toastmasters, she:
• became a more confident public speaker
• overcame some of her challenges in life
• developed her leadership skills
• realized her hidden potentials
And more…
Jackie Miao is a content creator, web developer, digital marketer, intercultural educator, community builder, and social entrepreneur.
Up until three years ago, Jackie had a daily live-streaming variety cooking show on Periscope under the moniker “Dining Happy.” Her cooking shows have been seen by over 2 million people. She is most remembered as an innovative broadcaster who used her multicultural background to create shows that promote intercultural appreciation.
Jackie is a full-time mama to her 2 1/2 year old boy, Samuel.
Living in isolation during the pandemic, she was inspired to establish the Digital Creators Toastmasters Club with the help of her amazing friends .
If you are a digital content creator looking for a supportive group to foster your public speaking skills, consider joining a Zoom meeting as a guest.
