Peggy reflects on her daughter Kelly Anne’s diagnosis with aplastic anemia, the rare leukemia that later became terminal, and the years her family spent navigating hospitalizations, blood transfusions, fear, and uncertainty.

Before Kelly Anne passed away, Peggy and her husband made the decision to create something in her memory that could help other families with needs insurances often did not cover. What started without a roadmap eventually grew into an organization that survived recessions, funding crises, leadership transitions, and decades of change while continuing to support families facing serious illnesses, disability, and medical hardship. Today, Danielle is helping lead the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund into its next chapter.

Emma Victoria thought the lump she felt at the gym was an injury. Weeks later, she was confronting stage IV breast cancer, a prognosis she says gave her a few months to live. Before her diagnosis, she had a business for nearly 10 years, managing staff and clients.

Football was once Eric Niederberger’s entire identity, but when that chapter ended, the decisions he made afterward began taking his life somewhere dangerous. In today’s episode, I sit down with Promise Aureila, who grew up moving through adoption, foster care, group homes, changing schools, emotional abuse, abandonment, and childhood trauma. Instead of allowing that past to silence her, she began writing the characters and cinematic worlds that helped her imagine a different future.

Promise shares how she began acting, studied the business of the entertainment industry, took acting classes, and eventually booked her first short film. When opportunities did not immediately arrive, she decided not to wait for permission. She began writing her own stories.

Ride. Rodeo. Amberley talks about the 2010 accident that broke her back and injured her spinal cord, the moment she thought she might not survive, and the long process of rebuilding a life that still included horses, competition, faith, love, and purpose.

Amberley highlights how family, faith, and horses became the three things that helped pull her through. She reflects on getting back on a horse just four months after the accident, returning to competition 18 months later, and becoming the only professional paralyzed barrel racer in the United States. She also shares what people often miss about strength, why bad days are still part of resilience, how her horses understand emotions that people may never see, and what it felt like to watch her life become a movie.

In today’s episode, I sit down with Jessica Lattman (JeLa), who is both a surgeon and an artist, using her hands to help heal the body and her voice to help heal the unseen wounds people carry deep within. Beyond the operating room and recording studio, she is a devoted wife, a mother of three, and a survivor of childhood emotional abuse. In this deeply vulnerable conversation, JeLa opens up about the complicated intersection of trauma, therapy, family, medicine, music, and the courageous work of reclaiming a life once shaped by pain.

She reflects on growing up in an emotionally abusive and isolating home where she often felt unseen, unheard, and disconnected from the love every child deserves. She talks about what led her to make the life changing decision to separate from her parents and also shares how therapy helped her rebuild who she is, how the love of her husband and children became an essential part of her healing journey, and how her desire to become a doctor may have been deeply connected to the wounds she carried from childhood. Through medicine, motherhood, and music, JeLa has discovered that healing others can sometimes begin with finally learning how to heal yourself.
