Episode 6: Grief in Your Becoming

Have you ever found yourself grieving the life you used to have, the life you thought you would have by now, or even the version of yourself that God is calling you to leave behind?

In this episode of Becoming H.E.R., we’re talking about a part of becoming that doesn’t get discussed enough: grief.

As we grow, heal, and follow God, we often celebrate the new things He is doing. But what about the things we had to leave behind? The friendships that changed, the dreams that haven’t happened yet, the certainty we once had, or the seasons we never expected to walk through?

Together, we’ll explore the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness, what it means to trust God in the messy middle, and why grief and joy can coexist.

I’ll also share my personal testimony of learning to trust God as Jehovah Jireh and how He taught me that while jobs, family, and friends may be resources, He alone is the source.

Episode 4: Trusting God in the Messy Middle

In today’s episode, we are talking about what I like to call the “messy middle.” The place between the promise and the process. The place between revelation and becoming.

Sometimes we say yes to God, surrender our lives, and begin walking in purpose… but life still does not fully look like what God promised yet. We can find ourselves in a season where our old life no longer fits, but the new season God showed us has not fully arrived either.

Episode 2: We Are Becoming

In today’s episode, I’m sharing a little more about me, the heart behind Becoming H.E.R., and why I finally said yes to starting this podcast after putting it off for so long.

We talk about community, purpose, abiding in God, and what it truly means to grow deeper in relationship with Jesus while also relearning yourself along the way.

I also share one of the foundational scriptures God has used to transform my life, John 15:4-5, and why abiding in Christ is such an important part of becoming who God created us to be.

Whether you are in a season of growth, healing, wilderness, uncertainty, or rediscovery, my prayer is that this episode reminds you that you are not alone and that God is inviting you deeper.

Welcome to the Becoming H.E.R. Podcast. I’m your host, Ky’Ondra Lashon, and I’m so happy you are here.

For this first episode, I felt led to start by sharing my story. The moment I truly encountered Jesus.

Now, I have always believed in God, but it was just three years ago that I became a devoted follower of Him. That does not mean I am perfect or that I always get it right. It means I made a decision to spend the rest of my life being in relationship with God and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform me until I do.

When I think back to that time, I remember I was not in the best place. I met Jesus in the middle of my brokenness, my grief, and my depression. I met Him at a time when I did not even know if I wanted to continue living.

But He met me there.

He gave me life, and He poured His love on me. A love I could not even imagine. A love I did not even know I deserved.

And I wonder if you can relate.

Maybe God met you in a valley. Maybe He met you in a dark season. If that is you, I want you to take a moment and remember where you were… and more importantly, remember how He brought you through.

What once felt like a desolate place became just a season. And in that season, you realized there is hope found in Jesus Christ.

Or, maybe you still in that season. I want you to know that God will meet you where you are. He is with you, His word promises that He will never leave or forsake you. I pray that you run into His arms.

The three key takeaways I would love for you to take from today’s episode are:

Remember the state you were in when Jesus found you. Let that stir your heart with gratitude and thanksgiving. Accept His love.

Allow His love and His Spirit to transform you to look more like Him. Dwell in His love. Sit in it. Let it change you.

Share that same love with others. Let’s leave here being the hands and feet of Jesus.
