-First pregnancy in 2014, ended in miscarriage, no heartbeat at 9 weeks.

-Second pregnancy in 2015, at 12 weeks was sent to a specialist - baby had a rare chromosomal defect called Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (1:50,000 chance of happening) and we decided to terminate at 15 weeks.

-Third pregnancy again in 2015, this time a healthy baby girl, now age 7.

-Began trying again in 2018...no luck for 2-3 years.

-Fourth pregnancy finally in 2021, after secondary infertility, baby boy born healthy in 2022.

-As a parent, I run my own coaching business, have the baby home with me two days a week, and try to manage it all - making a full time salary on part-time hours, being present for my kid or business, and it's a lot.

-The large age difference between children does help at times!

Parenting journey has been varied: 

*a child at 16 that I gave up for adoption

* a son at 20, pregnancy was easy, but he was breech at 36 weeks and was turned by the doctor. I had contractions from that point on until he was born at 40 weeks. Became a single mom when he was 3. 

* a son at 38, pregnancy was normal except the geriatric point of view constantly wanting to do ultrasounds and tests. Began having contractions around 37 weeks, natural birth 2 days after the due date.

*Have 2 step daughters, my husband and I got married when they were 17 and 19 so that has been an interesting journey. 

I have 2 different businesses. As a sole-entrepreneur I have been a freelance writer and educator for almost 10 years. I write copy for others in the wellness field. Both my clients and my writing is focused around using herbs, and aromatherapy to support overall health. A few of my clients focus on women's issues around perimenopause and menopause. As a couple we have started a farm business where we will continue the wellness focus and also sell produce and plants.

--I was a single mom after a divorce and raised my daughter Kate on my own.

- 7/11/19 our daughter Yarrow is born at home "in a bubble" totally miraculous beautiful home birth

- a couple stitches, postpartum care at home... postpartum steaming, lochia...

- 1.5 years later miscarriage, then documenting and sharing that process with our audience. 

- next year another intentional pregnancy, homebirth #2 in our new house, but on the same couch. ANOTHER bubble baby but he came so fast this time.

Conceived my daughter while living on a cruise ship. 

Was stationary in ca for 6 months. From 7 months pregnant til 4 mo old baby. Then flew internationally and lived out of suitcases for the first 4 years of my kids life. 

Worked with a midwife in Santa Rosa. Was in a birth center- went into labor Monday eve. Used nitrous for pain. Transferred to a hospital Thursday night. Had a c- section Friday at 9:30 am. Hospital water heater broken. No shower. 

Janet Lansbury is a huge resource from my psychologist on how to transfer my psychological growth onto parenting. 

Kids are not giving us a hard time, rather they are having a hard time. 

I get complimented regularly on being a “good mom” which I attribute to my own emotional/ mindfulness/ empathetic self growth and work

I was a sick kid with allergies and specialists. I applied all my gut health knowledge onto my kiddo. She is super healthy. No allergies. Well regulated. I was asked by her preschool to give a little all to the other parents on how to feed the kids so they could be more regulated ( easier for teachers)

I’m now working on helping my daughters school with food and how to nourish the kids so they can focus and be regulated. 

I have a food and mood coaching program for parents and professionals. “Un- hijack your ( and your kids) brain from foods that make u”you feel off and dis-regulated) crave foods that make you feel on and regulated.

* ex-wife was an only child, her mother was an only child, her grandmother was an orphan

* went through multiple fertility treatments resulting in our son

* after several miscarriages, we decided to adopt from China, bringing home our daughter

* both kids chose to pursue military academies; son graduated from the Naval Academy in 2020, daughter is in the Air Force Academy Class of 2025

In addition to my full-time job (student media manager at Bowling Green State University), I have consulting clients (long-term clients have involved social media, communications management, content creation among other things). I also maintain two blogs (one for each of the two aforementioned military academies) and have published two books, hoping that a third will be complete by Oct. 2023.

What I’ve been working on lately with my kids (and husband) is to stay in the place of love, and holy shit is it hard! We’ve been having meaningful conversations with Tayla (15) and allowing emotional expressions from her and the twins (Hazelleia + Hunter, 9). We’ve been learning to acknowledge, pause, listen, be curious, and let go of our judgments and reactions. Again, hard! But so good in the way of growth.
