Despite all that is going on in the world and actual storms surrounding me still the birds sing.
Literally.
It was so peaceful and reassuring. No matter what the challenge. No matter where in the world we may find ourselves. No matter what season we may be in, still the birds sing.
Peaceful.
Serenely.
Calling out in the light.
Bravely foraging, trusting their needs are being met.

This is not what I had planned for today.
I found myself at the keyboard much later than usual,as we saw the first disturbing reporting of an apparent attack possibly leading to a full scale invasion in the Ukrainian capital.
While I have spent most of my professional life in Journalism, especially "hard" news reporting and investigations, it's not my purpose here to delve into the politics or history.
My only thought is for the people. The impacts on those, not only in the Ukraine but truly world wide. With NATO and the US potentially becoming involved plus who knows at this point what this could be a precursor for, we will all be touched by these developing situations.
The important thing to remember is we are not powerless.
We can have an impact, a positive effect because what the world needs now is truly prayer.
This is my call to each and everyone of you to pray. Pray for those in the region. Pray for those being sent to battle and most of all pray for peace.
So as I encourage you all to pray, on this edition of “Becoming Today” I want to share my personal approach to prayer.

As I struggled with my inability to perform I had no choice but to reflect on why I may be going through this. I still really don’t have all the answers and probably never will but certainly I knew what it would take to overcome.
Time. And trust. I needed to slow down on some of the busy work and use this time to reflect upon deeper issues.
So I did. While it did take a few days for me to steady myself, regain my strength and clear my vision, I’m now ready to Reignite!
That’s the focus of our conversation now, on this edition of “Becoming Today”.

The depths of dormancy had overtaken me as I found myself in a bit of a funk.
A malaise. Sub-par; less than average. Not at all where I wanted to be.
At times I felt like I was in a tomb, now on this edition of “Becoming Today”, we’ll explore how I got out.

I have to admit this has been where I have been residing for the last few weeks, well actually all month long.
The depths of dormancy overtook me as I found myself in a bit of a funk.
A malaise.
Sub-par; less than average. Not at all where I wanted to be.
So on this edition of “Becoming Today”, I’ll share my battle, my impending victory over it and how this test has reassured me that all things end in all is well.

You will never be able to find out if you are right if you’re not willing to risk failure. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable and make mistakes, which we all do, is how you can learn to hear from God.
In order to do that we need to expand our circles of understanding and influence.

If by no other means than just simply listening to music we should all be able to comprehend that there is not one person who can go through life without needing help at one time or another, and then again.
Submitted for your consideration on this edition of “Becoming Today”, some song lyrics about help….

Too many times we hear, see, and read messages, attempting to reinforce that failure is not allowed. That failing at something marks you for life as less than. Nothing could be further than the truth.
Failure is not only an option but as we’ll discuss here on “Becoming Today” it is also inevitable.
