Below are two of the slides from this Sunday that provide a brief timeline of the history of Judah and Israel.

This week, we take a moment to reflect on the nature of the Church as Christ’s body on earth. We will consider what it means to be members of the Church and how we can continue to advance the gospel – fulfilling the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18–20.

Although Matthew provides only a short report on Jesus’s resurrection, it is hard to state how seismic its impact is. As we conclude our study of Matthew, we are reminded how the resurrection transformed the world.

Matthew goes out of his way to present the death and burial of Jesus in a way connects to the Hebrew Scriptures and is verified by contemporary witnesses.

The Jewish council’s decision to execute Jesus required Roman approval. The governor, Pontius Pilate, attempts to avoid entangling himself with the Jewish problems; but ultimately surrenders Jesus to be crucified.

This chapter is the beginning of the end. With Jesus’s final discourse concluded, we see how various people respond to his statements about his coming death. Some are incredulous. Others mourn. Many are frustrated with him.

Concluding his Olivet Discourse, Jesus discusses the final judgment of all of humanity; and he leaves no room for ambiguity.

As Jesus continues with his Olivet Discourse, he offers two parables that relate to the role of the disciples and the church in the time between his first and second coming. The implications of this wouldn’t set in until after he was resurrected and ascended to heaven.
