Welcome to season 7 of The Sober Experiment Podcast by Bee Sober where Alex and Lisa chat with Kate-Rowe Ham who is a Women’s Health Coach with a special interest in menopause fitness and nutrition.

Kate is also the founder of the Owning Your Menopause App. She is passionate about educating women on how to exercise at this time and how movement and diet go hand in hand in playing a fundamental role in managing many of the symptoms associated with menopause.

Qualifying as a level 3 Personal Trainer later in life, alongside raising her three children and experiencing her own issues with peri menopause has given Kate a unique insight into how midlife women's needs often fall by the wayside. Kate knows first-hand how hard it can be to regain body confidence especially after children and how many of the symptoms of menopause can leave women feeling overwhelmed, invisible, and anxious.

As a trusted expert in her field, Kate has become the ‘go-to’ Personal Trainer known for her specialised approach in making sure women are getting the correct evidence-based information on how to train effectively and nourish their bodies through menopause. She believes that so many women miss out on optimising their midlife and menopause experience due to not understanding how to adapt their lifestyle during this phase.

We are back for season six episode eight of our podcast. Alex and Lisa chat with Sam (Aka Dare to dip) about cold water therapy and how it can be a fantastic addition to sobriety and therapy for mental health!

Sam struggled with his Mental Health for years, specifically anxiety and depression. The anxiety started in school and Sam had no idea what this feeling was in his chest. He soon learnt that it was not physical pain but a mental one.

Later in life, he turned to alcohol and drugs, which soon escalated leading him to go off the rails. This only heightened his anxiety and escalated his feelings of depression.

Sam discovered Cold Water Therapy, and decided to train his body with 30 days of cold water showers.

And then like everything else he does in life, he wanted to take this to the next level.

Sam decided to take a dip in the North Sea every day for a year and is now asking people to support him by joining in or donating to his charity of choice, Anxiety UK!

We are back for season six episode five of our podcast. Alex and Lisa chat with Sheffield Ambassador, Barbara Williams, Aka Sober in Colour! This episode is packed with laughter – we just love recording with our ambassadors. And hang on at the end, this one ends twice!

Two call her Nanny Barbie, one calls her Mum, one calls her Wifey and some call her Bea. Her relationship with booze - social>binge>grey area drinker literally that quick, it just hit her. Barbara needed to think about this before it became too late, so she did. On 7th February 2021 she decided to ditch the booze and focus on herself and the more important relationships in her life.

We are back for season six episode three of our podcast. Alex and Lisa chat with Sarah Williamson, a Bee Sober Head Coach and Ambassador for Surrey about sober life, friendships and sober adventures.

When Sarah was 41, she made the decision to quit alcohol for a year, she told a few friends that she was going to do it and once she had said it out loud she knew She’d have to see it through or lose face! Sarah started to count down to her start date, still binge drinking and wondering how she was going to pull it off when she realised she was stalling for time, so she quit there and then. Sarah had her last drink – nothing monumental, out with a few friends and no hangover the next day and that was that. No crushing rock bottom – just a feeling of relief about a decision well made.
