Hello everyone! We will gather this Sunday morning (and for the foreseeable future) at Pantages. And while we’re on about schedule things – yes, we are planning to gather on the Sunday of the Labor Day weekend. Time to get serious about this – no more weekends in the park! (Is it unprofessional to use emoticons? Smiley face here…)
The Sunday morning summer gathering experiment seems to have worked out reasonably well. I realize that it was a bust for some folks, but in general a lot more people made it out for our summer gatherings than has been the case when we met mid-week. I guess those survey things have some merit. Thanks for coming as you were able. There is simply no substitute for being together in person.
This particular summer Sunday morning we’ll be continuing our exploration of fear with some musings about how not to freak out when our belief systems fail. Wait – that sounds more negative than I intended. It’s not just a matter of not freaking out, but of the distinct possibility that such failures may well open into wider and deeper realms of faith, hope, and love. So maybe it’s more about why we don’t need to freak out when this happens. As someone I read this past week put it, being taken to the edge of this sort of precipice and pushed over feels terrifying, until you realize that instead of falling, you are flying.
We’ll bring some coffee and some fishy crackers. You bring your fine self.
I’ll see you on Sunday.
Peace,
