Nintendo is making some major moves, and we’ve got opinions.
In Episode 3 of Beer & Video Games, we talk about the supposed live-action Legend of Zelda footage and whether Zelda should even go live-action in the first place. That turns into a bigger conversation about Nintendo movies, the Minecraft movie, Mario, Metroid, Star Fox, Kirby, and what a Nintendo cinematic universe could look like.
Then we get into the Nintendo Switch 2—the price, the hardware, Mario Kart World, the possibility of another Super Smash Bros., and what Nintendo’s next generation could mean for handheld gaming.
We also talk Steam Deck, Xbox handhelds, mobile gaming, cloud gaming, controller input delay, and where portable gaming could be headed.
Later in the episode, things get competitive.
We talk about bringing back Fight Night, debate some of our favorite fighting games of all time—including Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Bushido Blade—and pitch what a modern open-world Bushido Blade-style game could look like.
Then we ask the big question:
If somebody gave you $10 million to make any game you wanted, what would you build?
That conversation leads us into VR shooters, zombie survival games, Dead Rising, Left 4 Dead, immersive horror, full-body VR, and the kind of game experiences we’d love to create ourselves.
We also want to hear from indie developers, artists, programmers, animators, writers, designers, and small studios.
If you’re working on a game or creative project, reach out to us. We want to hear about it, talk about it, playtest it, and help put more indie projects in front of gamers.
