Before They Were Famous

Blockbuster would become a global empire with locations in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Norway, Peru and the UK. Can you even imagine a world where you would actually get in your car and drive to a store, spend 30 minutes walking the aisles then go home to watch the latest Hollywood release. Then they would charge you extra if you failed to rewind the tape or if you were late bringing the film back. Can you imagine? Those were simpler times. I had one VHS of Hot Shots 2 starring Charlie Sheen and we racked up $100's of dollars in late fees so we started renting at Jumbo Video instead. They gave out free popcorn! Much like the title of the film The Perfect Storm so many factors came together at once to put a demise to Blockbuster Entertainment. Values at $4.6 Billion in 1997 the company only has one remaining store at the time of this recording. Them late fees became an Achilles heel— also the uprise of Netflix. A company Blockbuster passed on buying back in the year 2000. Wait till you hear which their last ever rented film was – it's gonna blow your mind.

Just 23 years old at the time of this recording, Denzel Curry has been active for the better part of a decade, with his first mixtape released in 2011. He first started rapping in the sixth grade, and his interest in poetry dates back even further. At first glance, Denzel Curry looks like he came from a pretty stable background. He's a high school graduate with protective parents but in his native Carol City, he lived through some pretty hard times. He lost many a friend and even his own brother who died after being tasered by the police.

TORONTO GRILLZ | Kanye West, Post Malone, SmokePurpp | JONATHAN RAKSHA INTERVIEW

Just last week I dropped the Part 3 Rapper Grillz video and showed off to you guys my set of double tooth grillz. The reviews were outta this world and you guys demanded that I get to work on PART 4.
You guys also gave me a long list of artists that you wanted me to feature in one of these grillz videos, I'm talking Kap G, Boonk Gang, Trippie Red, CJ So Cool and a guy by the name of Lil Gnar.

Now I got no idea who Lil Gnar is but that sure is one icy set. I decided to hit up my jeweller Jonathon Raksha from Toronto Jewelers to help me out with this video and break down for me what some of these Grillz actually cost and what goes into makings them. Jonathon has made custom pieces for Post Malone, Kanye West Young Thug, ASAP Ferg, Joey Badass, G Eazy, SmokePurpp... the list goes on and on.

One of the hottest trap and hip hop producers in the world, Murda says that when he started making beats, pretty much no one believed in him. To be fair to his doubters, Murda had to overcome a lot to get to where he is today. Starting out as a white teenager in a small Canadian town, he had no industry contacts and no connections in the underground hip hop scene. What he did have was a decent musical background, strong social media skills, and the ability to identify artists who would become the future of hip hop. Check out his full Biography here:

There is actually a sequel to that doc which has been filmed but has since been put on on hold following her recent hospitalization. For the two of you who don't know, Demi overdosed last week and was rushed to the hospital. She was unresponsive when paramedics arrived at her Hollywood Hills home and it was initially reported that she had overdosed on heroin but these reports were soon after retracted. I'm happy to report that the woman is okay and stable but is still in the hospital at the time of this recording. She had just celebrated 6 years of sobriety and has received plenty of love and support from her famous friends including her ex Wilmer Valderama.

I'm happy to announce that True Geordie will be returning to his post as announcer or commentator or moderator, I don't know what this is. This is a pretty inspirational story and it goes to show you that nowadays you don't need a Broadcasting degree to build an audience for yourself and become a social media juggernaut. In fact, the King of The North went in a whole bunch of different directions before he was the man in the middle for these YouTube boxing events. He trained as a mechanical engineer's apprentice and was a deep-sea diver before a tragedy opened his eye to his true passion and the potential that can be harnessed on YouTube. I'm happy to see him accomplishing his dreams and can relate a whole lot to his story... There were times where couldn't afford his rent, bread, milk and was on a self-destructive path...

At the time of this recording, Boonk is going through some serious s and I don't mean A Whole Lotta Gang S. Of course we are talking about a man who has trolled his way to the top but I don't think there is anything funny about watching a man crash and burn. Boonk rose to fame a little over a year ago and being a social media guy myself I know how exhausting the pressure of keeping things going can way on a man. On top of this, Boonk also has the responsibility of becoming a father weighing on his shoulders. With him having lost his Instagram account which was probably his main source of income it looks like we are watching a man going through a downward spiral. Just this weekend the man almost lost his life having been shot twice. Although Boonk has suggested that he was shot by street enemies at a lot of people online believe that Boonk may in fact have shot himself.
