After praying, Jacob does not rest. Instead, he continues his path of self-salvation until he is finally left alone, in a valley, in the middle of the night. When things are at their worst, a man appears in what appears to be an attempt to kill him. As the down approaches Jacob has a new name. (Genesis 32:13-32)
