A 21-year-old white man identified as Dylann Roof recently killed nine people at a historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina as the churchgoers were praying. Following the massacre, officials discovered Roof’s nearly 2,500-word manifesto criticizing Blacks as being inferior. The tragedy has since sparked national debate over the symbolism of the American flag and the way that white criminals are portrayed in media compared to black men.
