Welcome to the first episode in English!

Today, I am happy and honored to introduce one of my friends for the very first English episode of Behind Research.

We discussed many topics, such as how he came to Sweden, especially as a non-European, how he decided to pursue a PhD and then a postdoc, and what he basically does in his daily work.

I wanted to start with him because even though we ended up in the same position, in the same lab, as postdocs, we had a totally different experiences before. I think this makes his journey particularly interesting to share with you. If you are a student, this episode shows that not everything is fixed and that you can create your own pathway.

“Le podcast où les scientifiques d’aujourd’hui parlent à ceux de demain. »

Nous nous sommes rencontrés sur les bancs de la fac, en licence, et pourtant nos parcours ont pris des directions totalement opposées. Je suis partie dans l’académique, tandis que Hasan s’est tourné vers le privé. Pendant une heure, nous avons discuté de son parcours passionnant et inspirant. Il nous raconte l’évolution de sa carrière, à la croisée entre le monde scientifique et le secteur privé.

Au fil de ses journées de travail, il a également choisi d’entreprendre une thèse, et il nous ouvre les portes du DBA, un domaine dont on parle très peu lorsqu’on est à l’université.

Au cours de notre échange, Hasan partage aussi des clés pour s’orienter vers le privé ou pour mieux construire son propre parcours scientifique. Alors j’espère que cet épisode te plaira, et je te souhaite une très bonne écoute !

Comment se construit une carrière scientifique à travers le monde ? 

Dans cet épisode, Benjamin, paléo-écologue passionné, partage son parcours entre plusieurs pays, ses découvertes et les défis du milieu académique. Il nous parle avec franchise des concours, du quotidien des chercheurs et des difficultés qui accompagnent parfois la recherche.

Il présente aussi son projet en paléoécologie, une discipline fascinante qui explore les écosystèmes anciens pour mieux comprendre notre planète afin d’améliorer notre futur et de surpasser les effets du dérèglement climatique sur la biodiversité.

« Entre passion et persévérance : comment construire une carrière scientifique »

Ronan n’était pas destiné à faire une thèse en sciences, et encore moins un postdoc dans un domaine qui le passionne… du moins, c’est ce qu’il pensait au début de son parcours universitaire. Pourtant, grâce à sa persévérance, à sa curiosité et aux opportunités qu’il a su provoquer et saisir, il a construit une trajectoire qui l’a mené là où il en rêvait.

Dans cet épisode, Ronan partage son cheminement avec sincérité : ses doutes, ses échecs, mais aussi la façon dont il a trouvé sa place et transformé les obstacles en leviers. Un récit inspirant qui parlera à toutes celles et ceux qui cherchent leur voie dans le monde académique ou au-delà.

“Quand la BD et la science se rencontrent »

Pour ce premier épisode je voulais commencer avec un métier scientifique qui sort des sentiers battus ! Car oui quand on parle de science ou de recherche, ce n’est pas BDésite qui nous vient en premier. Et pourtant, dans cet épisode nous voyons que c’est une voie possible après une école d’ingénieur et une thèse de recherche. 

Je suis donc ravie de vous présenter le parcours de Juliette, dont les BDs ont bercées mes années de doctorat et qui après avoir obtenus le siens s’est lancé dans le projet fou d’être BDéiste scientifique. Nous avons également parlé de communication scientifique, de son doctorat mais aussi du tunnel administratif qui parfois est vraiment confus en tant que jeune entrepreneur !

Dans cet épisode spécial, je m'écarte de mes discussions habituelles avec des experts scientifiques pour me plonger dans les récits intimes et émouvants de personnes confrontées à l'épreuve du cancer. 

Je suis honorée d'accueillir Thibaud, un battant qui a fait face à cette maladie avec courage et qui, aujourd'hui, nous ouvre son cœur en partageant son parcours, des premiers signes alarmants jusqu'à la rémission.

Cet épisode plus long qu’habituellement nous a permis d’entrer dans les détails de son parcours dévoilant certains tabou quant à l’état physique et psychologique que chaque patient pourrait être confronté. 

Si vous êtes malheureusement confronté à cette maladie de près ou de loin je vous souhaite tout mon courage et j’espère que cet épisode en aidera plus d’un !

Bienvenu dans ce nouvel épisode ! 

Aujourd’hui nous partons à la rencontre de Thomas, postdoctorant au Canada après avoir effectué une école d’ingénieur puis une thèse à la Sorbonne. 

Il nous raconte son quotidien au laboratoire et son choix d’avoir bifurqué dans la recherche après son école. Son témoignage montre notamment une nouvelle version de la recherche fondamentale dont nous n’avons pas encore abordée ici, car Thomas travail essentiellement derrière l’ordinateur.

Je ne vous en dis pas plus sur son projet de recherche portée sur l’IA car Thomas l’expliquera bien mieux que moi ;)

Welcome to the first interview in English!

She went to Sweden to discover the country as an Erasmus student and decide to stay for a PhD to work on Cancer.
