In the little hamlet of Chichester,  just outside the town of Phoenicia in the Catskill Mountains, Megan Leigh, E-RYT, founder of Lalita Healing and owner of Chichester Yoga Stuidio works her healing magic.    Megan also leads teacher trainings around the world and she will be joined by Betsy Todd of the Ubushobozi Project to discuss Megan's recent tearcher training in Musanze, Rwanda.

Megan also taught yoga to TEAM RAWANDA, the country's National Cycling Team. As the cyclists age off their riding, they are trained in jobs like yoga, bike mechanic, and coaching so that the team may continue to be self-run.

Jenny Triplett dreamed of being in media as a young woman starting her career.  After meeting and marrying, singer and producer, Rufus Triplett, Jr., the couple relocated to Atlanta where Jenny headed up her own entertainment company.

 

A legal issue landed her a short stay of incarceration. This twist of fate could have dampened a future and ruined a marriage but it didn't.  The couple turned lemons into lemonade and created opportunity from an inspired idea.

Tobacco use, especially smoking, is the #1 cause of preventable disease and death in the U.S.  The good news is that the benefits of quitting smoking begin to occur within 20 minutes of the last cigarette smoked.  Secondhand smoke is known to cause cancer and is responsible for approximately 3,000 lung cancer deaths in nonsmokers each year.

CNN's "Black in America," has chronicled her inspiring work using THE RACE AND CHANGE Dialogue she pioneered.  She records archival oral histories, produces television and Web radio programs, stages musical projects and teaches community outreach classes to engage native-born U.S. residents and immigrants in conversations about race and ethnic differences across generations.

 

Dr. Oliver's books, "Multicolored Memories of a Black Southern Girl," "Voices of Amera: Race and Change in Hollywood, Florida," and Multicultural Reflections on Race and Change,"  share her own migration from segregation to integration.

 

Dr. Oliver is the director of the multimedia website project THE RACE and CHANGE INITIATIVE at Florida Atlantic University.
