How many times has the market ended the year up between 8-10% (the average) on December 31st?
We reference average returns over the life of an investment, but the reality is that most of the time, the market closes out the year somewhere outside that average range. There’s a lot more variety in that year-end figure than 8-10%. We talk about why – and how that’s a GOOD thing – in this week’s podcast.
Here’s to wise investing,
After a few weeks of volatility in the market, investors are now waiting to see how to 2018 will come to an end. Midterm elections, interest rates, the Federal Reserve, and the trade war are to blame.
The question now on the minds of investors is whether this volatility will continue, or end in time for a bullish run into 2019.
Take a listen to this week's podcast as we discuss the reasons for the volatility and what investors should do about it.

We’ve talked about fees before, but we’re talking about it again this week because it really bugs us when you - the hard-working, penny-saving, investor - pay an advisor a little bit more in fees each year and miss out on potentially massive returns over the life of your portfolio.

In our podcast this week, Spencer and I discuss the fall of the mighty Lehman Brothers investment bank and why we believe the stock market is the wisest long term bet for increasing your wealth and having a comfortable retirement. The Iron Gate family keeps growing!
Listen to this week's podcast to meet our new advisor Spencer and to hear why he and I don't believe in income models that move retired clients into bonds and out of equities.
Just because you're retired and need monthly income doesn't mean you can't keep growing your assets.

Don’t buy gold.
Please don’t buy gold.
Just don’t.
We’ll give you the technical reasons why gold is a bad investment in this week’s podcast, but the only reason our staff really cares about is that gold won’t be any help in the zombie apocalypse.
