The zenith of Reed's college career arrived in 2014 during his junior year. Boasting an impressive batting average of .336/.476/.735, he led the nation in home runs with a staggering 23. On the pitching front, he displayed dominance with a 12–2 record, a 2.09 ERA, and 71 strikeouts. His outstanding performance earned him prestigious accolades, including the Golden Spikes Award, the Dick Howser Trophy, the John Olerud Award, SEC Player of the Year, and National Player of the Year from Collegiate Baseball and the American Baseball Coaches Association. Additionally, Reed was recognized as the Baseball America College Player of the Year. His excellence transcended the diamond, making him the SEC Male Athlete of the Year across all sports.
