This week's episode features Dr. Matt Endres of the UW Madison!
Dr. Endres accepted a faculty position at the University of Wisconsin in 2017. Here he acts as professor of drum set, jazz history, and is the drumline coordinator for the UW Marching Band.
Dr. Endres received his Bachelor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, his Masters of Music at the University of Illinois, and his Doctorate of Music and Ethnomusicology at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Endres has been adjudicating music festivals and competitions extensively throughout the United States over the last decade. He has performed as a sideman and band leader in national and international venues. He has appeared on multiple albums including the "Old Style Sextet" self-titled album under “BluJazz Records” (2014), “It’s About Time” (2013) with the Adrian Barnett Septet, “120” with Chris Beyt (2015), “Bird with Strings: The Lost Arrangements” with the Clark Gibson Studio Orchestra under “BluJazz Records" (2015), “High Ceilings” with the Derick Cordoba Group (2021), “A Trio for 3” with the Chris Beyt Trio (2019) under the “eyes & ears Records”, “Places” with Gate Check (2021), and Chris Rottmayer Quintet featuring Rufus Reid (2024)Dr. Endres has worked with a number of successful, well-known artists including Doc Severinson, Robert Irving iii, Rufus Reid, Brad Leali, Chris Brubeck, Charles McPhearson, Frank Gambale, Marquis Hill, Sharel Cassity, Tom Garling, Greg Ward, Michael Dudley, Victor Garcia, Michael Blum, Shawn Purcell, Darden Purcell, Oliver Nelson Jr, Jim Pugh, Jeff Halsey, Peter Dominguez, Dave Pietro, Grammy award winner Charles “Chip” McNeill, Ron Bridgwater, Dave D'Angelo, Carlos Vega, Larry Gray, Glenn Wilson, Richard Drexler, Mark Colby, Alex Graham, Tom Lippincott, Clark Gibson, Tito Carrillo, John “Chip” Stephens, and Adrian Barnett.

guitar and is music director for country superstar Reba McEntire on tour. He is
a Grammy and Dove award winner as music producer and an Emmy award winning
composer for TV and film. Doug’s songs and compositions have been featured in
feature films, TV as well as a variety of artist's projects. Upcoming he’s on
board as composer for the NBC sitcom “Happy’s Place to air fall of 2024.
He has performed on stage, in concert and on TV with such artists as Reba, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Timberlake, Brooks & Dunn, Faith Hill, Dolly Parton, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Steven Tyler and many others and has been the music director for several CMT TV specials, including "Giants", Crossroads”, "2008 CMT Music Video Awards and “2019 CMT Artist Of The Decade”. As a session player Doug has appeared on albums by Reba, Casting Crowns, Linda Davis, Tom Kimmel, Disturbance, Henry Lee Summer to name a few.
