  • JASPER CARROTT, SIR PATRICK MOORE, THE QUEEN’S FUNERAL – SCRIPT SUPERVISOR LAURA VINE’S TV LIFE

In this edition of Behind the Scenes we meet one of Britain’s busiest and most versatile television Script Supervisors – Laura Vine. In this candid, laugh-out-loud chat Laura talks about her 30 years at the BBC starting

as Production Secretary, and then the freelance world beyond, working on everything from occasions of state to The Chelsea Flower Show, Carrot Confidential
and The Sky at Night, where she enjoyed Sir Patrick Moore’s little known 5-star culinary skills. Add to that international sport along with modern and Shakespearean
productions at the National and RSC, there’s hardly an aspect of telly she’s not covered.

  • MUSIC, OLYMPICS, ROYAL EVENTS, RVPs & MORE – THE AWARD- WINNING TV CAREER OF DIRECTOR RICHARD VALENTINE

In this edition of Behind the Scenes we’re meeting multi-Bafta and Royal Television Society Award Winning Director, one of, if not the most popular and versatile working in British live broadcast entertainment - Richard Valentine. He’s covered everything from Royal Variety Performances and arena concerts, working with major music artists including Harry Styles, Jamie Cullum, Ariana Grande, Beyonce and U2, to major events such as the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games, Invictus Games, Royal weddings and working on the coverage of the Funeral of Her Majesty the Queen.

Richard’s been non-stop at the top for 40 years. Pretty good for someone who began their television career in the Props Department of the BBC.

  • RED DWARF, LOVEJOY, JASPER CARROT & MUCH MORE – THE TERRIFIC WRITING TALENT OF PAUL ALEXANDER

This edition stars one of the most prolific and versatile, award-winning writers in television and entertainment on both sides of the Atlantic, Mr Paul Alexander. I first met Paul in the ‘80s when he joined the team of Bob’s Full House. Since then, he’s scripted Hollywood films, live action and animated streaming series, penned ratings-winning sitcoms for radio and television, including episodes of “Red Dwarf”, comedy dramas, soaps, comic books, musicals and some of the niftiest one-line gags for our very best comedians. He’s also a Sunday Times best-selling author. Oh. And he stubbornly remains decades younger than me.

  • JIMMY GREAVES, HENRY BLOFELD & ITV’S PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING – PART 2 OF THE TV LIFE & TIMES OF TOP PA VICTORIA STURGESS.

In this edition of Behind the Scenes, Production Assistant (Script Supervisor) Victoria Sturgess shares more stories of her life and times at the sharp end of British television from the late 1960s through to the early ‘90s taking in her move from music and entertainment to LWT’s  Sports Department; which led to her working alongside such production luminaries as John Bromley, Ted Ayling,

Patricia Mordecai and John Scriminger. She recalls the glamour of travelling the globe covering football and boxing, those “tiresome” golf and pool tournaments, the joy of Tarby’s FA Cup Final Celebrity Bar, plus that staple of
World of Sport’s Saturday afternoon line-up - Professional Wrestling!

Victoria also talks fondly of her friendships with Jimmy Greaves and Henry Blofeld, their shared love of reading books and why she relocated to Wimborne Minster to

open one of Dorset’s most celebrated book shops -  ‘Black Pug Books’.

  • QUEEN’S “BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY”, THE STONES IN HYDE PARK, PLUS DAVID FROST: THE TV CAREER OF P.A. VICTORIA STURGESS

The latest edition of Behind the Scenes features the first of a two-part conversation with London Weekend Television and pop music video Production Assistant (Script

    Supervisor), the magnificent Victoria Sturgess.

In a career which started in the late 1960s she worked extensively with legendary director Bruce Gowers on innumerable LWT series, travelling the world with David Frost, and filming Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody” video.

Victoria’s early career also involved working with Producer-Director Mike Mansfield covering so many iconic pop performances including the Blind Faith and Rolling Stones 1969 concerts in Hyde Park.  She also kindly chats about her love of live TV and all its perils, along with averting a transmission near-disaster during the star-studded gala production marking LWT’s move from Wembley to the South Bank. And that’s all before she joined the London Weekend Sports Department,
which is a whole new episode in itself.

Now living in Dorset and a passionate bibliophile, Victoria owns and runs one of the finest independent second-hand bookshops in the land, “Black Pug Books”.
