Behold God's Servant 
Isaiah 49

Isaiah 49:7b
      Kings shall see and arise; 
      princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; 
                  because of the LORD, who is faithful, 
      the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.” 


The servant of the Lord is described in the second song as the one who will bring back God’s people. In verses 5 and 6 we hear the “restoration” language. In some Bibles, you might find it translated as “bring back”. The theme of restoration is more powerful than what we might first hear.  For the language of restoration cannot be separated from the language of resurrection. Today we reflect on the Epiphany of what it means to be restored to the land, restored to the proper relationship with God restored in a bodily resurrection.
