Being 10:19 | Be Still. Be Deeply Loved.

Generally it’s fairly easy to get our bodies to be still. The harder part is getting our minds to do the same. One tool that may help is prayer beads. For thousands of years and across the globe, people have been using beads to quiet the mind and facilitate a connection to God. Yet for many Christians, particularly Protestants, the idea of using prayer beads is foreign, even taboo. But there’s a story in Scripture that may help you develop a new appreciation for prayer beads and other objects of prayer. So I hope you’ll join us to hear how beads can help us be.

Part of being deeply loved by God involves learning to be and be still. It can be fairly easy to get our bodies to be still, but our minds are a whole ‘nother matter. There is often constant chatter, a running flurry of thoughts and worries, and usually an annoying jingle from a commercial playing in a loop in our head. It’s hard to get our minds to be quiet. But there’s hope! Today we’ll talk about how to help our minds find rest and stillness so that we can be with God and revel in God’s deep love for us.

This podcast is about being deeply loved by God. Last episode we started to focus on the word 'be' to help us understand what it means to be deeply loved. With such a tiny word, it doesn’t seem like there’d be much to say about it, but we’re going to keep looking at it in this episode. Specifically, we’ll talk about why it’s hard to just be and consider some ways to make it easier. And I’ll share more of my story of healing, and leave you with a new meditation that will help you practice being.

In today’s episode we’ll focus specifically on what it means to “be.” We’ll consider the meaning of the word be, explore the benefits of being, and end with a simple meditation you can use to practice being.

We are deeply loved by God. That’s the truth of our lives. But while that sounds great, the reality is that most of us don’t feel this deep love, at least not all the time. Some of us may not even believe it. I get it. But there's this really great verse in Scripture that can serve as a reminder, and maybe even a path, for us.
