Today I'm sitting down with my friend, Theresa Todd. Theresa is a Speaker, Trauma-Informed Coach, and Podcast host of The BAD Mom Show. On this episode, we're going deep into something a lot of us carry but don't talk about - the belief that if people really knew us, they'd see we're inherently flawed. Theresa gets vulnerable about growing up feeling like there was something fundamentally wrong with her, how that wound showed up in her motherhood, and the shame cycle she stayed stuck in until she let God into her story. We're talking about why emotional abandonment goes straight to the core of your identity, how anger became her survival technique because it was the only way she got seen as a child, and why doing all the therapy in the world won't change you if you're not willing to look honestly at your story. This conversation hits on why you can't heal from something you haven't grieved, how your fiercest traits are actually your superpowers when surrendered to God, and why the repair work with your kids matters more than getting it perfect. If you've ever believed you were going to mess up your family, or you're parenting out of fear instead of freedom, this episode is going to break something open in you. Let's dive in!
