Dr. Diane Ansari-Winn is an anesthesiologist and development coach speaker–but also the creator and the host of The Doctors Life podcast and founder of Physician Vitality Institute. The mission of PVI is to transform and improve health care for everyone by promoting and supporting physician’s health and well-being. The medical profession can be grueling and doctors, like everyone else, can easily succumb to burnout, fatigue, and heavy performance loss and enjoyment in their professional and personal lives. Diane is on the show to share what she is doing to help keep the world healthy.
Diane believes to improve health care a conversation about being leaders needs to be at the forefront. The best leaders are not dragging their butt to work and complaining and dreading being at work—then going home and staying up until midnight doing charts. The best leaders are people who are dynamic. They are energetic. They have the capacity to come up with and take on new projects and they make room for their loved ones, themselves, and ultimately the communities they serve.
The Physician Vitality Institute comes from Diane’s own experiences with burnout. She found that we do things that energize us, and also deplete us. We need time to rejuvenate. We can’t just keep going and think we’ll be fine—something doctors often overlook. Diane looks at renewal from a multidimensional perspective: relationships, calm and concentration, inspiration, caring for your body, and emotional fitness. Finding activities that renew you in multiple areas is the key to achieving your best performance and growth.
Boxing plays a huge part in Diane’s vitality (as it does mine) so go ahead and jump in the ring to hear our journeys from the ropes to accepting the power of our punches.
