What does God's ultimate, promised rest to His people look like?

There is historical precedent for the devastation of unbelief, though it can be averted. It is a danger only for those who have come near to God in some sense, and it always ends in death.

Why did the Son of God become one of us? So that our salvation could be accomplished in perfect harmony with God's character. So that he could represent us on the cross as an appropriate substitute. And so that he might accomplish glorious benefits on our behalf.

We believe that from all eternity God determined in his grace to save a great multitude of guilty sinners from every tribe and language and people and nation, and to this end foreknew and chose them. God justifies and sanctifies those who by grace have faith in Jesus, and He will one day glorify them - all to the praise of His glorious grace. In love God commands and implores all people to repent and believe, having set His saving love on those He has chosen and having ordained Christ to be their Redeemer.

Only in Jesus, the true and better man, is God's original intention for humanity fulfilled.

We believe that God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.

The danger of drifting away from the gospel is imperceptible, but real. And the consequence of neglecting the gospel is severe, but certain.

Jesus Christ is greater than even the angels, in at least five ways, which ought to cause us to desire him more than anyone or anything.
