He is a safe refuge for those who trust Him, cares personally for His people, and knows and never abandons all those who belong to Him. While God judges sin and evil, His goodness gives believers comfort, strength and hope. We are therefore encouraged to trust Him in difficulty, seek shelter in His presence and rest in His faithful care.

In the evening we take up Colossians 1.16 (and some connected passages) with help from Belgic Confession Article 10 - the divinity of Christ.
