This week on Ben & Bran See a Movie, Ben Friedman is joined by Chris Harris to discuss maybe the best film of 2017, Get Out. Jordan Peele's newest horror film Nope debuts this weekend in theaters across the world, so it only made sense to talk Jordan Peele and the qualities that make him such a unique director and writer.  

In Get Out, his comedic sensibilities from Key and Peele are in full-effect. You can feel his love for science-fiction and horror, and directors like Kubrick and Hitchcock. Get Out can best be described as a Twilight Zone-esqe story, yet is so much more. It's a film unafraid to make fun of white liberals and show the absurdity of racism, while also discussing the fetishization of the body, which so many black Americans are subjected to.

This week on Ben & Bran See a Movie, Ben Friedman shares his spoiler filled thoughts on Thor: Love and Thunder! Then, he talks about the state of the MCU, what is working, why there is a disconnect amongst some fans, and addressing the accusations of the MCU being directionless.   

To cap off the show, Ben gives his 8 biggest's issues that need to be resolved moving forward in order to save the MCU. Topics discussed include: Bringing in the A-listers like X-Men, XFX shots, embracing creativity, and stop diluting the brand with the excessive amount of Disney+ shows.

Thor: Love and Thunder storms into theaters across America this weekend! Taika Waititi returns to the director seat after his very successful outing with Thor Ragnarok. Thiis film sees the return of Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman and follows Thor and Jane Foster as they come together to fight a big baddie known as Gorr the God Butcher. Gorr is played by none other than Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy). Thor: Love and Thunder also stars Russel Crowe, Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt, and Taika Waititi.  Thor Love and Thunder is the 29th installment within the MCU, the 4th installment within the Thor franchise, and Taika’s second outing within the series. This is Chris Hemsworth’s 9th installment within the MCU.

It's time for Ben Friedman and Branson Indelicato to feel the power of the thunder down under! This week on 'Ben & Bran See a Movie' we decided to cover Thor: Ragnarok in anticipation of Taika Waititi's newest installment Thor Love and Thunder.   Thor Love and Thunder is the 29th film installment within the MCU and is releasing 5 years post Ragnarok. So, we decided to go back and determine what makes Thor: Ragnarok so special! 

What impressed me most upon rewatch is how the comedy still holds up, how great of performances the cast gives, and the film's willingness to embrace the effects of imperialism and how an empire expanding can never be altruistically good.  You'll notice that the format for the episode's has changed. We've added a few segments we are really proud of including Mt. Rushmore and Movie Marathon where we suggest movies to watch if you like this week's films. Some of the movies suggested this week included: What We Do in the Shadows, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the #tollywood sensation #RRR. (Should Branson and I do a podcast on RRR in the next few weeks, let us know)!

In honor of "Hustle" a basketball drama produced by Lebron James and starring Adam Sandler, Ben Friedman decided to do a retrospect on The Sandman's career. More, specifically what makes his character's so relatable with audiences. And dare we say it? Is Adam Sandler the most underrated dramatic actor working in Hollywood? The films discussed include: Uncut Gems, Reign Over Me, Funny People, and Punch Drunk Love. But of course since it's Sandler I had to talk about some of my favorite comedic performances as well!
