Big Idea: All faith must be active and courageous.

2 Samuel 23:20-23

1. Be ready for all circumstances

There was also Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant warrior from Kabzeel. He performed many heroic deeds, which included killing two champions of Moab.

2. Be willing to confront your fears

2 Samuel 23:20b-21

Another time on a snowy day, he chased a lion down into a pit and killed it. Once armed only with a club, he killed an imposing Egyptian warrior who was armed with a spear. Benaiah wrenched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with it.

3. Be an agent of change

2 Samuel 23:22-23

Deeds like these made Benaiah as famous as the three mightiest warriors. He was more honored than the other members of the 30. And though he was not one of the three, look at this, and David made him a captain of his bodyguard.
