Why would Paul use the imagery of a bride to describe the relationship Jesus has with the church?  Paul is describing the closeness of Jesus to the church.  He is speaking of the preciousness and purity of the church.  We need to view the church as precious an not simply a collection or assembly of individuals.

Saul failed to trust God.  This cost him dearly.  As a church we need to trust God as we walk through the doors He has opened before us.

The days following Pentecost were a moment of excitement for the Early Church.  But there was more than emotional high that motivated these Christians.  Their behavior was much deeper and more substantial than a momentary experience.  As a new church plant, we can be excited as opportunities present themselves.  But, we also can learn from the early church and spend time in study, fellowship, and prayer as we share the Gospel with our neighbors.

Some times we are led to believe we must choose between science or the Bible.  But this is a false choice.  As Christians we can believe and trust the Bible and use science as a way of gaining knowledge of nature.

When Jesus said He is the Son of God, the Jewish leaders understood something specific from the statement.  Jesus wasn't simply claiming to be an ordinary man.   If His claim is true, He is claiming to be God.

Why did Jesus compare Himself to a vine?  The vine provides life and essential nutrients to its branches and fruit.  As we understand the context and the implications of John 15, we find guidance for the modern Christian.

Jesus showed His power over death with an unmistakable demonstration of authority.  He revealed why He is the only path to life by raising Lazarus from the dead.  Yet not everyone who witnessed this miracle believed Jesus.  But for those who do believe, there is a promise of new life.

What did Jesus mean by claiming, "I Am the Good Shepherd?"  He was claiming to be the Messiah.  He was claiming authority.  But He was also explaining His care and great love for you and me.  Will we follow this Shepherd?
