In this episode of Benevolent Journeys, I share an inspiring and transformative chapter of my life. Recently interviewed by Kathy Walterhouse for the Professional Rule Breaker podcast, I recount the remarkable story of how my husband and I, a nurse and a mechanic from Sarasota, Florida, packed a few suitcases and moved to Costa Rica to start a new life.
The interview dives deep into the motivations and dreams that led us to establish a unique retreat center amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Costa Rica. I discuss the challenges we faced and the leap of faith it took to make the move. This move not only transformed our own lives but also created a sanctuary for others seeking growth and transformation.
Join me as I open up about the courage it took, the lessons learned from embracing vulnerability, and the joy of living a life filled with adventure and purpose.

In this episode, I welcome Larry Cudmore, the Cowboy with a Heart for Horses and Humans.
Larry Cudmore, a former Lutheran pastor, faced a life-altering battle with aggressive prostate cancer. Given just 18 months to live without immediate treatment, he defied the odds. Driven by a love for horses and a passion for helping children and adults with special needs, Larry began offering 'horse play' sessions. What started as a personal endeavor blossomed into the nonprofit organization Champs Heart. Located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Champs Heart provides equine-supported interactions for children with special needs and veterans with disabilities. Larry’s dedication, along with a team of 200 volunteers, has transformed Champs Heart into a beacon of hope, healing, and smiles. 🐴❤️
