Today we're visiting the Sturgeon River Preserve in Gaylord, Michigan! Although small, this preserve offers truly beautiful views of the Sturgeon River and challenging hikes up and down narrow terrain. For those looking for something more relaxing, the preserve includes a 400 foot boardwalk that features the best river views on the property!

On today's hike, we explore a small portion of the Green Timbers trail within Michigan's Pigeon River State Forest! The snow did add some additional difficulty on this hike, but the snowy forest vistas are worth it! The Pigeon River State Forest is known as Michigan's "Big Wild" and is home to the largest Elk population east of the Mississippi River.

Today I hike the Woodland Trail at Pickerel Lake Park and see wildlife! An entire flock of turkeys crossed the trail and the camera captured the flock just off the trail. The Woodland Hike is a short walk (though there are quite a bit of hills, up and down), so I continued unto a portion of the Lake Trail.
