Sea Change Brewing, based in Edmonton were one of the pioneers of the new wave of craft brewing that started in Alberta in 2016. In that year the law changed removing a minimum production limit that prevented smaller breweries from opening.

Founded by punk musicians this is a brewery that likes to do things a bit different and have fun doing it.

Dave Henderson and his wife Shiree Phillips bought a brewery off Gumtree (well Dave did) and went immediately from home brewing to commercial. They're currently gypsy brewing and about to open their own facility in 2023. 

They also have big plans.

Dave is from Derry in Northern Ireland and he told me about his journey during a trip back home over the Christmas.

When Russia invaded Ukraine Pravda Brewery in Lviv switched from making beer to Molotov Cocktails. They also released their recipes for other brewers to use. 

Under the Brew For Ukraine initiative brewers around the world brewed the beers and donated the profits to help the people of Ukraine.

Yuri from Pravda Brewery as well as Vern from Federation of Beer kindly gave their time to tell me how the initiative was started, where it is now, and what the current situation is in Ukraine.
