After decades of exile, God stirred King Cyrus and His people to return
to Jerusalem. Yet once home, opposition and comfort distracted them from the God who
brought them there. Through Haggai and Zechariah, God called them back to Himself: “Return to me.” The Temple, the return from exile, and the sacrifices ultimately point to Jesus, who brings sinners home to God. Home is not ultimately a place we build for ourselves; God Himself is our home.
