Advent anticipates the coming of the Christ child into the world and expresses our deep longing for God’s kindom to be realized in the earth. The good news is that in Christ it has and now we get to partner with Christ in continuing that work. But what does that look like?

Advent is about making room - room for the Prince of Peace in whatever guise She appears in our midst. One of the ways we make room is by participating with God in building communities of peace- so that our faith communities become God's house for all nations.

This Sunday is Christ the King Sunday when we celebrate the reign of Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When we think of kings, we think of wealth, privilege, prestige and the use of power in a way that subjugates the population, rather than empowering and lifting it up. But Jesus says to us, “That’s not the way I roll. I am not that kind of king.”  So, what kind of king is Jesus and why is that good news for us?

God’s future is defined by love. In that future, ALL humanity and creation will have a place at God’s table as welcome and celebrated, no exceptions. How do we partner with God in bringing that future into the present?
