The Israelites Get Scared

The Egyptians catch up to the Israelites where they are camping by the sea near Pi HaChirot, opposite Baal Tsafon.

Wanting to fulfill his promises to his troops about staying in front of them, Pharaoh attempts to move ahead, closer to the Israelites.

The Israelites see that the Egyptians were unified in heart, like one man. They also see that the ministering angel of Egypt had come down to help them.

The Israelites become very scared and start praying to G-d, in line with the tradition of their forefathers (Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov).

They cry out to Moshe, "Are there no graves in Egypt that you took us to die in the desert?? Why did you take us out from there? We told you to leave us alone and let us serve in Egypt. We should have stayed there rather than to die in the desert!"

Moshe tells the nation not to fear. He says that they need be patient and they will see how G-d saves them. He says that after today they will no longer see the Egyptians.

He says that G-d will fight for them and they will stay silent.
