We made it - the last week of Eastertide.  We are almost through 50 days of celebrating Jesus.  It has been fun for me to journey with you through this Eastertide season.  

This week we are looking at Pentecost and the Holy Spirit.  A lot of things begin at Pentecost and it is so rich in its truth and significance for the church and you and I.  I hope you can take a listen and I would love to hear how your Eastertide celebration went. This week we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus.  Evangelicals do not traditionally spend much time with this event. It often gets just lumped in with Easter celebrations but sometimes it does not even get mentioned.  So, what is the Ascension and why is it worth celebrating?  Listen to this episode to find out why it is feast worthy. 

Celebration can be easy, light, and fun.  But it can also be something that we have to choose amidst the uncertainties and difficulties in real life.  This week's podcast is a story about choosing to celebrate and how Nehemiah reminds us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. 

May 8th or 14th is the feast of Julian of Norwich - depending on which calendar you follow. She lived between the 1300-1400, she is a doctor of the church, a devout follower of Jesus and a beautiful soul. Her books, Revelations of Divine Love, significantly changed my faith and opened up my heart to the immense and tender love of God.  My prayer is that the same would happen to you. One podcast episode could never do her writing justice but come and listen to some ancient but transformative words from Julian of Norwich.  

C.S. Lewis says that the things we see as frivolous here are actually glimpses of a heavenly reality.  Mary is frivolous with the perfume she pours on Jesus feet. There seems to be an aspect of frivolousness in celebration and especially to Eastertide.  But it is hard to be frivolous, especially with our time.  Take a listen to this week's podcast episode.
