Simon Sinek was right. People buy your product when they believe WHY you do what you do. I so damn believe Steve Jobs's design philosophy and I have been a cult follower ever since I got a hold of an iPhone 3gs. It was inspiring, interesting, and so stimulating. I simply loved every product he put out because I know what he's trying to achieve and why in such a way. Naysayers can say whatever they want about Apple products but it will take something more than amazing to make me shift. And I think that says a lot about how this marketing genius has made me feel -- more than the status, it made me believe that we "the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes ... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo." have a place and that we can change the world despite and in spite. We can be who we are and we don't need to line up according to how things are "supposed to be". That empowerment alone deserves my loyalty. Reading this humongous book just made me understand the inner workings of his mind. I am not a genius but I can relate in so many ways, at so many levels. We are probably outrageous and live out in the same out-of-this-world dimension.
This book is definitely one of my favorites-- one I reread when I need creativity and power.

“If hygge is the art of doing nothing, ikigai is the art of doing something—and doing it with supreme focus and joy.” —New York Post
According to the Japanese, everyone has an ikigai—a reason for living. And according to the residents of the Japanese village with the world’s longest-living people, finding it is the key to a happier and longer life. Having a strong sense of ikigai—the place where passion, mission, vocation, and profession intersect—means that each day is infused with meaning. It’s the reason we get up in the morning. It’s also the reason many Japanese never really retire. They remain active and work at what they enjoy, because they’ve found a real purpose in life—the happiness of always being busy.

Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back documents the report of a near-death experience by Burpo's three-year-old son Colton. Colton told his parents he left his body during an appendectomy and authenticated that claim by describing exactly what his parents were doing in another part of the hospital while he was being operated on (Good Reads, n.d., para. 2). It has been adapted into a movie and is currently available on AppleTV!
A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman. Ove is the quintessential angry old man next door. An isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse, who spends his days enforcing block association rules that only he cares about, and visiting his wife's grave, Ove has given up on life. After a boisterous young family moves in next door and accidentally flattens Ove's mailbox, an unlikely friendship forms. It is also a Swedish comedy-drama film (watch the trailer here), which soon will be a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks (2022). P.S. I just saw the trailer and realized Ove is pronounced as ǔːvɛ; please forgive my mispronunciation :D

Why do naturally talented people frequently fail to reach their potential while other far less gifted individuals go on to achieve amazing things? The secret to outstanding achievement is not talent, but a passionate persistence (Good Reads, n.d., para. 2). Angela has found that grit—a combination of passion and perseverance for a singularly important goal—is the hallmark of high achievers in every domain (Duckworth, n.d., para. 3).
This book became one of those trendy books after Angela Duckworth's TedTalk.

The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage by Mel Robbins
This book was the reason why I was able to do my Wake Up Early project. The main idea is to count 1-5 backwards and launch like a spaceship. No thinking. No questions. No second-guessing your earlier decision. 5 seconds is just about your window before your mind realizes what you're going to do and gets activated into convincing you not to do whatever it is you decided to do. "When you start counting backward, you interrupt the habit of overthinking, you assert control, you focus yourself on taking new action, and you activate a different part of your brain. The counting down from five-part sounds silly (I thought so too), but it is actually a powerful form of metacognition." (The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life With ... - Mel Robbins)

Think and Grow Rich is one of my favorite books of all time. I have implemented a lot of teachings in this book to my own life. You won’t believe how much this has influenced and improved my life for the better. It is one of those books that has become a guiding voice when you need to make decisions about your life, big or small. Unsurprisingly, this is a long episode given the many highlights I made reading this. Just too many gems to harvest from this read. Enjoy the best quotes from Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
John Green's Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another. Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words—and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet François Rabelais called the “Great Perhaps.”
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?
"As their paths converge, and the reasons for that convergence become clear, Haruki Murakami enfolds readers in a world where cats talk, fish fall from the sky, and spirits slip out of their bodies to make love or commit murder."
"Never has [Murakami] offered more enticing fare than this enchantingly inventive tale. A masterpiece, entirely Nobel-worthy." -Kirkus, starred review
Some wise words about love and relationship from two of David Levithan's best-selling books, Every Day and Lover's Dictionary. Both books are easy read if you'd like to know more about the context of these best quotes from David Levithan.
