We honestly cannot believe that we got this far into the pod before highlighting Hank & John Green in a whole segment, but fear not, this episode is the one! Hank posted some great videos on TikTok highlighting the strange way we look at “health” with regards to food and we break that down this week. Then on their podcast, Dear Hank and John, John talked about how focusing on the nutritional value of food has never been helpful for his mental health and we fell in love all over again.
We briefly touch on Cassie’s time working in child welfare and the intersection between that work and the moralism of food and health.
We answer a question about a long term relationship where the partners disagree about the root cause of their disconnection and explore themes of gaslighting, communication, and codependency. We also give out some advice on how to find the right therapist for you!
Episode highlights:
“He’s such a good human--he’s like the best white guy I know.”
“We’re not numbers people, so much.”
“We do not need that level of specificity, if this is about health.”
“Anytime someone announces they’re pregnant, my first thought is ‘oh god, please don’t f*ck up this kid.’”
